The billing system at LibanCom had been in use, more or less unchanged, for 25 years. It worked — until it didn't. New product tiers needed weeks to launch. Reconciling against a single account meant cross-referencing three different screens. The system that ran the business had become the thing that slowed it down.
We replaced it in three months.
Why it worked
We didn't try to map every quirk of the old system into the new one. Most of those quirks were workarounds for problems that no longer existed. Instead, we mapped the actual work LibanCom's billing team did — every day, in real situations — and built the new system around that.
The legacy data migrated cleanly. The team trained in two weeks. The new system has been running production billing for several months now, and the manual work everyone assumed was just “part of the job” turned out to be the easiest thing to fix.
